Bass Lake Trail. quick report

hi guys.
i have made a small post on the comm forum as i know most of everyone here is also a member there. [username creepyjeep on that forum]
on friday i spent the day at the bass lake trail, for the guys in gauteng who havent been there i can highly recommend it. it is fairly easy, still technical but no car breaking stuff.
the actual spot itself is so pleasant that it is just a brilliant day out,its safe ,clean and organised.
take food and drink and sit next to the dam afterwards and reflect on the trail, you will score big points with your partners.
bass lake is where all the diving schools go to teach their students, the rescue services also use the place, it is very well set up.lovely spot with nice shop/cafe from where they also hire out boats, rods and diving kit.
its R50 to use the 4x4 trail and entrance fee to bass lake is R60 per adult.
i thought that the 60 was heavy but soon changed my mind when i saw how much the place has improved since i took my son for his diving course there about 7 years ago.
after thirty years of competing on two wheels i am still very much a novice on 4.
i found the trail to be exactly what i was looking for, it had enough accents and descents to scare and thrill me but i knew that my pajero wasnt going to get smashed, rocky sections are few.
unfortunately i skipped two sections, one a very scary climb and an axel twister, the twister is something i havent tried yet and needed some help and direction. the guy i met up with through my thread at the community forum wasnt gung ho enough to help me so i left it.i felt i needed an experienced guide to help me here.
it was also my first time through deep water with a car, must say i was surprised to feel the water hitting at the floorboards and when the water went over the wheels i started to get a little worried.
the pix arent great as i was the only camera guy and my focus was on driving. the elderly guy john who met up with me for the trail was in a 40 year old landy and his feet were swimming in the water,as the landy had no sealing what so ever.
bass lake is 45km south of bedforview, just off the main highway to vererniging .
