One place open on a trip to Malawi via Mozambique and eastern part of Zimbabwe. Trip is in school holiday between 24 June - 7 July 2011. Self catering and camping with 4 days at Cape Mclear/Monkey Bay in Malawi. Own vechicle needed (preferably a bakkie/SUV should suffice, no 4x4 tracks will be done but some roads are bad with lots of potholes). R3500 books a place and camping fees for 2 persons. Send me an email for more detail: cobusb@absa.co.za. I had to cancel due to personal reasons. Safety in a group and chance of a lifetime to see Malawi.

Paul,

We did this trip a decade ago, but didn't go into Zim. Had two 4x4s and two BMW 1200cc on/off road bikes - each with a couple on board.

Our over nights were 1)Maxixe 2)Villancolos 3)Casa Msika near Manica 4)Ngezi Tiger lodge 5)Blantyre (had to pick the one BMW wife up at the airport) 6)Cape McClear/Monkey bay.

I'm sure conditions would have change much since then, but what a wonderful and memorable trip. I hope you guys have a similar experience.
