Cylinder head gasket replacement

Hi My poor baby blew her gasket on a trip to Moz. This was slightly unexpected as she has only done 335 000 km's! (2002 3.2 GLS) My predicament is: (Option 1) Do I do just the gasket or gasket, pistons, sleeves and valves?
OR
(Option 2) Swap out the motor? New motor R 45 000, recon motor R 30 000. I have no idea what option 1 will cost.
Any suggestions recommendations? I'm in Gauteng and recommendation of a good mechanic will be most welcome.

330k Is a good innings and if it was mine I would seriously reconsider rebuilding the engine. I have too often seen folks with hi mileage engines pop a cylinder head gasget and after a short while the heads crack and problems just keep on popping up. If it was up to me I would have a look at a jap runner and add that to the options as well.
At the moment I am running one of those jap imports and have had 100k of faithful service from it with no indication of any surprises in the near future. It cost me R6k where the spares and engineering would have cost me more than 20k and saved me on down time as well.

1. Waldo (bold4E) just rebuilt a Di-D, so he should ba able to give you good advice and a cost break-down.
2. A blown head gasket is more often than not the result of a problem, not the cause. make sure you check out everything in the cooling and injection system that could have caused the failure.

Try Engines and More for a second hand imported motor. 4m41's are scrarce as they rarely seem to give hassles. But I think they will be able to get you one.

You can also have a look at Japan auto, their engines have been very good in my experience, on all the units that I have opened all have still had the original hone marks in the pots.

as above, jap auto. have bought 2 motors from them, busy with a 3rd, no probs.
www.japanauto.co.za
you can also buy a speed&sound mag and page through the back pages, lots of engine import guys in there.
