Probably a question for Marius
How easy is it to remove and refit the starter motor? Mine needs overhauling and I'd be more inclined to take it out myself and take it to a sparky than get a workshop to do it.
it is very easy. Here is as I remember it.
Disconnect battery.
remove the main positive cable with a 12 spanner
remove the spade connector for the solenoid ( it's got a clip - don't just pull on it )
remove 2 bolts ( 14 spanner )
Out she comes
I can't recall if the sump guards ( only 6 bolts anyway - 2x14 & 2x12 ) are in the way or not but disregarding that you can have it out in under 2 minutes.
Servicing the starter is very easy as well. You just need a 10 spanner and phillips to open everything. ( Make sure you use the perfect phillips head for the solenoid screws as they are tightly in there and can strip easily )
