Starting problem

I have a gen 3 3.2 which has been giving starting problems for the past few months. It was turning over very slowly and taking long to fire up. First they replaced the battery. This helped for a while then back to slow start up again. Then the starter was replaced. It then started quickly with a few turns. Now 3 weeks later the starting up is lengthening in time again. It is better on the first start up of the day but not as it should be. It's currently taking about 5 seconds of turning over before it fires. Can anyone offer some advice as to the possible problem? The vehicle has 150 000km's on the clock with one more service in the mainenance plan so I'd realy like to get the cause sorted before it's for my account.
Can anyone kindly offer any advice please?
Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,
The only advice I can give is to make it the dealers problem. I think they have not done a full spectrum check with injector timing , pump timing, glow plugs etc, I am not a diesel specialist but I will not accept excuses for an answer rather a solution from the dealer side.

check the voltage across battery terminals when engine is running. It should be between 13.8volts and 14.9 volts.
Secondly the intank filter (accessed from below second row seats) may have sludge - recently seen this as a common problem on the Di-D engines. I checked mine recently and it was clean - maybe because I'm running 2stroke oil and have used an additive a few times recently as well (mitsu fuel system cleaner and spanjaard diesel injector cleaner)

Hi chaps, thanks for the responces. I forgot to mention that the engine sounds to be running noisier than I can recall when I got it. It has more of a 'tractor' growl than a smooth sounding engine. Could this be another pointer to the problem?

maybe injectors or the top timing chain guide as well.
