Please help with Error Codes - 2001 3.2 Di-D Pajero

I have recently experienced a problem with my pajero. After driving a few kms in 2H, all green lights will go off on the dash and the centre diff will start to flash. I can then do what I like with the short lever, it stays flashing.
Restarting the car solves it for a few kms and then the problem comes back.

If I drive in 4H the problem never occurs.

Even after troubleshooting for a few hours I can't seem to find the issue. It may be intermittent so I scanned the car (manually by bridging OBD port connector1 to ground and reading flashes) and need help on what these codes mean.

PS : To read codes, connect terminal one on the OBD port to ground and read the CEL flashes. The first long flashes are the tens and then the following short ones are the single digits - ie. 3 long and 2 short = 32) pauses are in between codes
- do this at own risk :!:

The thing that confuses me is that I get codes from other flashing lights as well.

The CEL gives me codes - 49
The ABS light gives me - 22
The Neutral light (Auto) - 52
The centre diff light - 34, 35

Mine does the same (goes on after about 30km), although I get error code 33 from super select which points to the normal culprits: The switches. I also get about 8 ABS error codes, althouth the ABS warning light never goes on under normal circumstances.

My best guess about these error codes is that these can be viewed as warnings or transient errors. If the ABSA (or other) warning light comes on during normal operation, you should view the error codes as real errors.

The fact that your Super Select warning light comes on means that the problem is probably serious. Codes 34 and 35 point to the freewheel solenoid or switch system that is faulty, which might explain why the problem never occurs in 4H. I wonder if it means the front diff engages while you're driving?

What/where is CEL?

Have you reset the ECU and checked again?

CEL = check engine light.

Marius,

My buddy's 2003 DiD had the exact same symptoms. The Pajero techs in George followed the error codes and replaced switches without success. In the end it was a faulty vacuum pump.

I am yet to diagnose physically.

I suspect a faulty vacuum solenoid (I think it gets hot and clicks back - as the short lever didn't send the signal to the ecu it freaks out and make the centre diff light flash - I would have designed it to have the front lights flash as per the other error problems that makes for easier diagnosis instead of just a flashing diff light) as it's not a problem in 4H (default mode) but in 2H (which requires constant vacuum to the front diff actuator) it bombs out.

I will update as soon as I looked at it.

Good day

Any luck with this problem yet ?
I have same problem and have changed my front solenoids still same problem after a few kilos.

Follow the pipes and look for cracks and vacuum leaks
