Hi Guys

I am running a 3L V6 with the 6G72Y motor in Malawi and it seems to be an indestructible motor! (Has to be out here! ) It has however recently developed an issue where when running hot it starts jerking erratically. There is no smoke and seems to be an electrical failure of sorts. Pulling over and switching off for a few minutes gets rid of the problem for another hour or so then it starts again. I have replaced all leads, plugs etc but the problem persists. No reliable diagnostics out here so hoping for someone with similiar experience to give me some pointers! Much appreciated! Also have a TD5 with some problems re fuel pump and blowing fuses if anyone can point me in the right direction!

I am no specialist here but did you check your coil pack- if it has such a thing- or what is called the power unit that supplies the spark plugs and coils with power.
Just today my daughters little golf had the same issue and I saw some sparking through the coil pack and first though it to be the lead wire but on closer inspection found a hairline crack in the ignition coil itself. Bought a new one at Goldwagen and bob"s your uncle - problem solved. I am merely referring here because I know my 3.5 has that system with a power unit , three coils which transfers energy to the other three plugs.
Maybe some of our V6 gurus can comment further.
