Hi All. Myself and the wife are looking at going to Drakensberg for Easter 2012.We've never been there before. Looking for a place with plenty "day trip" things close by. If you've experienced a gem of a place there, please let me know.
Thanks , rob.

You can try ATKV Drakensville. They have really put in a lot of effort to upgrade the place since takeover.
Lots to do and see.
Just take some warm clothing as the winds from the berg can sometimes be very chiily especially in evenings otherwise lots of firewood and OBS will also do the trick.
Be sure to book well in advance as the ATKV resorts are well known and almost fully booked most of the times.
If you are a member you also qualify for reasonable discounts especially nice in high season times.
My favourate place is Buffelspoort near Rustenburg. Lots for the kids to do if you have any- .
They also have a heated pool at Drakensville under roof for those chilly evenings.
Look on their website

Hlalanathi on the road to the Cavern(Amphitheatre area) is excellent. Depending on your interests there is a magnificent 9 hole golf course next to the river, river tubing, trout fishing and an extreme sport area nearby. It is accessible on the road from Harrismith past Sterkfontein dam to Bergville and although this stretch of road is in shocking state, it is worth the trip for the views of the dam and from the Oliviershoek pass. Have travelled the route this weekend !
