Hi,I just redid my engine on my jero (twice)but now when I push her a little she heat up .Don’t want to repeat the exercise again so I want to fix before the motor get damaged again. So if someone have eany idea what could course it pls help
Hi Altus,
Please can you detail what you have done so far, sounds like it may be a bit.
I had a temp issue which was false on mine (not saying this is the issue on yours though by the sounds of it).
Have you cleaned and rodded your radiator?
Have you replaced Thermostat and radiator cap with OEM part?
Have you replaced yoour water pump?
Have you check the sensors in the engine bay?
Are you losing any water?
Any visible water in your oil - not always a perfect science?
Have you gone to Silverton to do a cooling check is basically what I am asking
Mine was a computer board behind the speedo, which after replacing and a big scare, the cooling system was fine, sounds like your issue is very different though.... but may be worth a check in any event
Cheers
David

Hi Altus,
I have seen reports on local and aussie forums of the coolant forming like a Gel and causing flow issues in the radiator and alot of blockages resulting in overheating (that was my first area of attack when my problem happened). SIlverton does a good job at checking and doing a clean would be a good thing to do none the less, mine was full of seeds as well and they cleaned it and removed and rodded the entire unti and did a full radiator flush as well and was a few hundred rand.
I am uncertain if this is the cause of your issue, but mine looks as good as new now and my temp is fine even when working hard at ambient temps over 40 degrees, I am not a DID though, I am the Gen 3 Petrol version.
Silverton can do a pressure check of your cooling system as well and advise accordingly.
Here are some other links around this which may help as well:

Even after replacing the gaskets and all the hoses on my Paj and having the radiator flushed and recored my vehicle would overheat above 110km/h or when going off-road.
Only thing that helped was swopping the original radiator out for a 3 core radiator. (+- R2000 )
No more over-heating.
Nico.

I think ghost is unintentionally implying the gen2 might be prone to cooling issues and that a 3 core is the solution. I'd argue his original issue wasn't sorted.
I had an issue with mine that on very hot days, working hard in LR that the temp would skyrocket necessitating a stop to let it cool down
It turns out there was several kilos of dried mud trapped in the radiator and half of it was blocked inside. Fix that and I've never had hassles since in the same hot LR conditions or towing an Echo up long hills.
Get that radiator checked out at Silverton.

My vehicle was at Silvertons twice and I had the radiator flushed 5 times.
That, along with the new gaskets, thermostat, water pump and all water hoses (rubber and metal) that was replaced pointed in the direction of the radiator being way past its due date.
So I thought, why go for a replacement part when I can future-proof my van.

Hi Paj Owners,
Once again I would like to aadd my little stream of piddle.
In the Gen 3 Pajeros, there is a foam rubber (spunge) gasket / sealer between the radiator and the front valance - one for the top of the rad and two down the sides. Whilst still under maintnance plan mine started to go "vrot". When I pushed for a replacement, the answer was that they have never replaced that gasket / sealer and that they also do not even carry spares to replace these items.
On a trip to Zambia shortly after, I noticed that my Pajero was running warmer (HOTTER) than normal ( outside temp 45 degrees +), but just within limits. When we got back home after the trip, I decided to replace the foam / spunge strips myself. I went to auto rubber in Pretoria, bought some sealer strips, installed it and waited for our next trip to test the new strips. These strips are also on sale at Builder Warehouse etc.
The next trip was in Namibia. Once again very warm outside - 40degree + - but my engine temp indication remained absolutely normal. Once back in Pretoria, I bought a better quality and higher density foan, cut it to size and installed it on the three sides of the radiator. The next trip proved that I have soled the slight overheating problem.
I think the reason for the foam strips is to prevent the warm air htat has already passed through the radiator from flowing round the radiator and going through the rad for a second time; thus not cooling as it should.
Maybe you should try this solution before replacing rads etc. Incidentally, I run a 50%/50% coolant mix.
Hope this will help a little,
Cloyd
