Pajero Startup Shudder
Hi Guys

I have a 2005 Pajero GEN 3 GLX with 135 000 KM on the clock. The power delivery is great and fuel economy is around 8.5 KM / L. Cold starting is fine but when starting after driving for a while the car starts but the engine swings longer and with a shudder. I have had it fully services and tested my Mitsubishi and they say they cannot find any problems. Do you have any ideas or suggestions. Ifit helps at all I have switched back to 500PPM diesel as 50PPM seems to make it worse.
Re: Pajero Startup Shudder
It seems very much like the problem I have had.

It seemed to have cleared itself up since I started using 2SO. 200 ml twostroke oil per tankful. Have tanked up only four times with 2SO so far and I have not had the problem since.

Hi Bigwill

Many thanks. I have started adding 2SO 3 tanks back. It does help with cold start as well as general performance but on a hot day like today in CPT it fealt worse than before. It is very confusing as I have had my duel battery system tested. As well as a full Mitsu Diagnostic (I do wonder about these) error free. I have been told I may have to "re-calibrate" the diesel pump but sending the pump away seems a total waist unless it is a confirmed diagnosis.

Hi

I have a similar problem on my 2005 GLS. Also starting with a shudder when hot. Nobody seems to have an answer. The agents want me to recondition my diesel pump and injectors. Did you manage to find a solution to your problem or did the 2SO cure your problem.

The rough starting om my car is a little better with the 2SO mixed into the diesel. At one stage I was conviced that it was all sorted and I reported so on the forum. However this major improvement co-incided with the altitude change from Joburg to the KZN coast. Back at Joburg it again started being noticable, but not as bad as before. I took it to Freek in Centution but he could not off-hand say what it was. He needed the car for longer and I could not afford to leave it there at the time.
I am starting to accept it as normal now. After all the car has been doing this now for 107000km since brand new and it is not getting worse.

Pull the intake pipe off the intake manifold. Let someone start the car while you watch what the throttle body does.

Post a video if you can and i will do the same to compare.
Re: Pajero Startup Shudder
How do I post a video? I tried doing an upload of an attachment as I do with photos, but that seems just to huge and I gave up. Please help. I have a nice clip of my throttle valve in action during a cold start as suggested by junior 4e.

Ok I think I've got it right now thanks.
Note the engine jumping as it fires up. Is this normal? It does get worse at times especially when very hot. Note the butterfly is open throughout the entire sequence until the key is switched off. I would love to compare this to others. Here is the video:

Re: Pajero Startup Shudder
The closing speed when the engine is killed seems a bit slow to me. I will try and get a video of mine soon.
