Those doing the West Coast Eco trail take note....
The regulations for camping between Groen River and Spoeg River on the West Coast have changed. Before, you could merely pay a conservation fee at one of the Namaqua National Park's gates and camp where you wanted.
Starting September 2011, you will have to pay camping fees too. A camping spot will cost you between R70 and R100 per night (depending on the availability of an enviro-toilet in your camping spot). Together with this camping fee, you will have to pay conservation fees of R22 per person per day.
Don't think you'll be able to duck this one - park rangers will patrol the borders and inspect camp permits.
