Asc off lig wat aan bly

My Pajero is 'n 2007 glx 3.2 d met 105000km. As ek teen 'n bult of hoogte op gaan dan kon die ASC OFF lig aan. Party keer kom die engine lig ook aan. Dit maak dat die oorskakeling van ratte baie hard of rukkerige is. As ek egter stop en die motor afsit en dan weer aansit is alles weer ok. Ek het die voertuig nou al vier maal na Stanmar (mercedes agente) geneem en die probleem is nog steeds daar. Die eerste twee kere het hulle gesê hulle kry niks fout nie en die liggies moet brand dat hulle kan sien wat die probleem is. Ek het dit toe vir hulle geneem met altwee ligte wat brand en hulle het gesê dit is die boost senser wat vervang moet word. 'n R1200,00 rand later en die probleem is nog die selfde. Nou sê hulle hulle kan niks meer vir my doen want hulle het nie meer 'n rekenaar nie. Die rekenaar is vir Imperial gegee. Imperia kry nie eers my vin mommer opgespoor op die rekenaar nie. Enige raad sal opreg waardeur word

I agree that it may possibly be the boost sensor but seeing as they replaced it (or did they?) the 3.2 Di-D tends to clog up the pipe and connector on the inlet manifold that leads to the boost sensor (situated next to the fuel filter).

My advice would be to replace the little hose with a new one and clean out the connector with some carb/brake cleaner (removed from the intake manifold).

While that connector is off the intake manifold have a prod inside to remove debris that may be cling on the inside (especially if the egr system hasn't been blocked off)


Completely different scenario is to check the circumference of the tyres (also verify pressures as this can influence rolling circumference).

If the circumference is different the ecu might get confused when the circumference difference is magnified by the weight shift to the rear due to the uphill and extra power given to get up it. This may link in with the boost as well as the car now has to work extra hard to compensate.

Another option is a sticky wastegate that doesn't bleed enough backpressure (boost effectively) and when driving uphill (working hard at full boost 24/7) the wastegate just can't keep up and you get the resultant limp mode.

All just theories. Hopefully we'll get some more views.
