I got an e-mail pointing me to the Filter & Hose Solutions website: http://www.filterandhosesolutions.co.za ... ilters.asp

See also a thread on the Hilux forum: http://www.hilux4x4.co.za/views/viewtop ... 45&t=17569

If it is good quality it is a BIG saving when compared to UDF systems. Anybody used it before or know about this company?

This would definitely be very useful for 3.5 GDI V75W!
Please keep us posted and let's see if FHS can come with kits for Pajero too.
I say 3.5 GDI because these engines are very pretentious with petrol quality.
Therefore we need:
1. VERY GOOD FILTERING
2. HIGHER OCTANE GASOLINE
For no 2 please advise if you kn ow of any reliable and available/convenient method of octane boosting.
Cheers and Eyes on Pajeroclub!... :-)

I called FHS yesterday and it seems like their target market is more large construction equipment - they can only provide the normal filters (diesel/oil) already used on the Pajeros - they dont have a specific kit.

The Hilux Forum guys put together their own little kit by ordering the different parts and then assembling it themselves - more like a generic type of system usable by more than one type of vehicle.

Mac,

If I recall the Toyota issue correctly, the main problem there is that the standard Toyota diesel filter has a bigger mesh then the injector aperture. So a tiny piece if grit can make it through a brand new filter and stick in the high-tech injector, slowly destroying it.

Last time I did research on the Gen3 injectors, I found convincing evidence to the fact that they are manufactured from WWII Tiger Tank gun barrels  . I think all you need in your Pajero is a spare fuel filter under the boot for that crappy fill-up that could happen when least expected.

Thanks Roelf, will keep that in mind.

WWII Tiger Tank barrels you say?? I reckon the fuel consumption is about the same also!

Me thinks you are confusing the DiD injectors with those of the 3.8V6 Guns of Navarone injectors.

Why would one use anything but Racor filters?

Mainly price I reckon plus the fact that the okes are apparently satisfied with the product.

Does anybody have comparative prices for FHS & Racor (eg 2 micron spin-on with water trap) ?

Below is a piece of the post on the Hilux forum:

I am busy negotiating with a well known filtration company to get additional pre-filtration setups similar to the UDF and Racor. Filtration specs to follow but you are looking at 10micron or better in performance. It will not replace your existing filtration but serve a supplementation role to the standard filtration system and will be available with either water trap or without.

Kit will be available including everything you will need for a DIY installation.

Current indication is about 30% die price of either UDF or Racor.

Any interest??

Prices and pictures on the last page as well
