I took my injectors to them today to test.

They did the first stage opening pressure test and checked spray pattern.

He has a hand pump connected to a pressure gauge and then a pipe that the injector connects to. He slowly operates the hand pump to see at what pressure they open - all within spec and very very very close to each other.

He then hand pumps them hard with a cleaning agent substituted for diesel to check spray pattern and blow through oily residue and debris that may be in the injector.

2 of the injectors had 2 weaping spray holes. He (Wouter) opened them, cleaned them, reassembled and tested.

After all said and done (less than 10 minutes) I observed that all the injectors now had a fine uniform mist spraying out of the injector.

He also put the injector on a test pump so I can see what the spray looks like when running - just for interest sake.

he sent me on my way without asking for any money.

Hopefully I get a bit more oomph and some economy.

done a couple hundred kilometers on the clean injectors and haven't seen the smoky idle return.

By the feel of my bum there is more power - the tyres really chirp hard when I accelerate out of a bend now - scared me first time.

By the look of my eye on the fuel gauge (I watch it very closely these days) there is a difference in consumption. I filled up yesterday so will report back when this tank is done.

remove engine cover
remove EGR system (mine is gone so I didn't have to do this step)
remove breather pipe
remove tappet cover
remove injector bypass pipe from injectors
remove injector bolts (2x per injector)
the remove injectors (I gripped with vice grip and moved them about 50 times left and right slightly while pulling up) - put a cloth over the cams so you don't scratch them

All in all it took me about 40 minutes to remove and 20 minutes to put back - add approx. 15 minutes each way for the EGR system

for a start my smoky idle has disappeared.

I haven't done enough miles to check consumption.

My problem is, my Pajero doesn't smoke. It smokes like normal.

Well let see what your result is, then I can make a plan to get mine cleaned.
Have you ever tried injector cleaner you buy at a spare shop?

yes, i used diesel injector cleaner numerous times (wynns and genuine mitsu cleaner)

Made no difference.

By the looks of the dirt that came out of the injectors, I suspect the car has been worked on before and the reassembly of the injectors were done "dirty" and so some grit got into them and got stuck just behind the spray nozzle - no amount of cleaner will get that out.
