I did the diagnostic check without a scan tool as described in another forum.
I could only pic up 1 code, 43, Timing valve control system?
Does anyone have an idea what this is ?
Regards
Tolla
Hi Tolla,
bad news I'm afraid. The timing control system refers to the timing control valve inside your diesel fuel pump. Its a fairly common problem on the Paj. The valve itself could be worn and most likely the casing of the pump too. The pump would have to be removed, repaired and re-calibrated...The cost around R21000.00

Hi Wilddog,
Thanks for this good news !
My Paj has done 240 000 km, and it is running 100%.
I won't do the diagnostic again !

Remember that it is just an electronic code. The sensor could be faulty. Not all error codes point to issues. If its running fine then dont fiddle.
Why is it that I continuesly hear of Paj 3.2 Di-D engines that either cracked or burned holes in piston's ?
I have done over 240 000 km now, everything still dead standard. Should I start to worry now ?
I have also heard of 3.2 diesels that have done over 500 000 km's ?
I want to keep believing that I own one of the toughest SUV's on the road !
Happy Pajero owner !

You hear things we don't hear.
The Di-D engine has proved itself as very reliable - something of a legend, worldwide.

Recurring problems on the 4m40 (2800 TD):Allegro wrote:don't confuse it with the 2800TDi Colt, now that a lot of problems
- cracked head (±R8000 to fix)
- injector pump seals (±R350 to fix)
There are however millions of 4m40 worldwide, without any problems, especially as fitted to the Pajero.
