Map Great Fish Light House

Info about..

This light house is situated near the mouth of the Great Fish River.

We have driven down the gravel track from the R72 to the lighthouse on at least 2 occasions, only to find the gate locked.

This week I had to do some inspections on the R72 (I am in the fortunate position to be the designer of the R72 upgrade between Port Alfred and the Keiskamma River). On the spur on the moment, we took the track again, and found the light house open for a quick visit.

The turn-off from the R72 is at S33 30.381 E27 04.072

What a pleasant visit it turned out to be!
The keeper, Marten Petersen was friendly, knowledgeable and his light house is kept in prime condition.

There are two self-catering units next to the light house, with beautiful views, a braai and swimming pool. The tariffs vary from ±R150 - R250 pp depending on the season.
