Hi
My Pajero 3.0L V6 is now nearing the 300k mark, and I am starting to smell burnt oil - that sweet, slightly cloying smell after a casual trip.

As I had the headsdone about a year ago, I am considering getting the motor either:
1. Reconditioned;
2. Rebuilt; or
3. Replaced

I have read about using an imported, low km motor that apparently has more power than the standard so would like to pursue this avenue - anyone know of a dealer / mechanic in Cape Town or surrounds who speacilaises in this?

The alternative is to rebuild - any recommendations here?

Or lastly - replace. In this instance, could I fir the 3500 motor onto the exisiting gearbox and engine mountings, or is this a huge, costly exercise.

The reason for not upgrading the vehicle is that thi is now kitted out exactly as I want it - long-range fueltanks, sliders and boxes, rooftop tent, compressor, dual battery, etc. so I know exactly what I have in this vehicle, and am generally very contented with it.

Thanks
