Hi,

I've recently returned from a two week overlanding trip to Namibia - the time was spent camping, birding and relaxing. I've attached a trip report - hope it's not too long-winded :)

Cheers,
David

A great trip report!! Thanks for visiting our lovely country! :D

About Etosha: Most of the Namibians share the same sentiments about Etosha as you do. It's insanely expensive, picnic and camp sites need urgent attention and the food at the restaurants is hopeless. (The management of the park spent millions on refurbishing the chalets and bungalows a couple of years ago, but they don't seem to care about anything else. This causes the private establishments around the park to thrive as many people rather stay at these establishments and make day visits to the park.)

Thanks guys.

Superairborne - ja - all the Namibians I've spoken to are upset about what's happening in Etosha.

I don't bring the topic up anymore with SWAMBO - it makes her blood boil!

Awesome trip report, there is just something about Namibia, it is just an amazing country. You should have Skeleton coast and Kaokoland on the radar I'm sure, that area blows us away. We just can't get enough of Nam, now you just made me lus....

Thanks for sharing, the Sossusvlei Oasis is a welcome site, looks like a great option for staying over at Sossusvlei. Sunrise over the dunes..... nothing beats that.

Thanks David. Really great.

I am doing a trip in June through Botswana, Into Zambia, Then Vic Falls, into Caprivi, through Etosha. Then formally our group splits up. My wife and I will be then travelling through Namibia on the way back home. We expect to take about 3 weeks to complete the trip, but have left the door open if things go really well. Your trip inspired me even more now.

Love to share my trip with the members when I'm back

Tick
