A while back my 2.8 TDI cylinder head cracked, (discovered by engineers)...I bought and fitted a new head, replacing rings, bearings, con-rods etc just because I could!. The engine has over-heated again after 50 kms and blown the new gasket. How do I home-test for head-cracks before I replace the gasket? Can a water-test work some-how?
Of course the head prob is a result of another problem rite?...a faulty thermostat?...or failing water pump maybe? or the Isuzu radiator I modified and put in (a new Pajero Radiator must be imported @ R7,000....no thanks!)
BTW...my Toyota pick-up has done over half a million KMS since new in 1985!....Just one set of rings & bearings to combat smoking....never another problem! Thats kewl!....My Pajero!!!...NOT kewl!
