DiD Diesel pump??

Even though I have reconditioned a few petrol engines in my more "adventurous" days, I dont know much about Diesels.

A JNB collegue phoned me for some help. (I'm in CPT)The agents tell her she needs a new diesel pump(gazillion Rand of course!)for her 2000 DiD Pajero.

Is there any other options? Can one buy a used unit and just have it fitted, or does it need to be callibrated on the vehicle by specialists? Can you guys recommend anyone for a second opinion or quote?

any advise greatly appreciated

Hi sixmaniac,

I guess the first question would be why?
i.e. what symptoms is she experiencing?

I have seen lots of paj threads where this is the dealer response and it turns out not to fix the problem.

I would suggest either:
Alan Black (Pty) Ltd
Phone: (011) 811 3490
Fax: (011) 811 3576

or her closest Bosch centre for a second opinion - here is the link to the Bosch / Diesel-Electric branch locator

The cost associated with the diesel pump seems to be a major problem, see:

The cost of a replacement unit and or service of the unit is astronomical, and does not guarantee solving the problem. Rather check all the other possible causes, before going down the expensive path!
