Simple, cheap and effective tool for oil filter removal
Entabeni: 2006 3.2 DiD LWB GLS AUTO 180,000km

When having to do my first service at 160,000km in July 2011 I discovered that I did not have a suitable tool for removing the oil filter and it was a Sunday! So I rattled up a tool to do the job from material on my garage shelves. I cut a slot in one end of the 19mm square steel tube just wide enough for two thicknesses of the strap to fit in. By making the strap long enough to wrap once round the tube before tightening on the filter the strap will not slip through the slot. It works like the proverbial charm!

Here are a couple of photos.
