i did a major service on my 3.2 did at 210000 km including a auto gearbox filter and oil change , the oil was changed in the correct manner including removing the hose in front at the radiator ,the vehicle was running fine for 2000 km and at a speed of 160 km/h with strong wind and towing a trailer the vehicle flashed the gearbox light on the dash and the gearbox jumped in 3 rd gear with the neutral light flashing , we returned home at a steady 80km/h , we removed the gearbox sump to find the oil to be black and some kind of "graphite" look alike silver " blinkers " in the oil and on the magnet in the sump .
What could the problem be
1) reason for going into protection mode
2) the " blinkers " in the oil
3) where to begin and what to do / replace

What type and make oil was used? The autoboxes are very finicky and work best on the prescribed and Mitsu supplied gearbox oil.
