I've just got myself a Snomaster 60l fridge and was wondering if it is ok to run it directly from the 12V adapter into the back of my Gen 2.

Anyone know?

It should be fine. I would give it a try. Might only work while the car is running (that is the Gen 3).

To be sure, check what the fuse rating is for that power socket (it is probably 10A), and check that the max current consumption of your fridge is less.

If original wiring to that socketis too thin, then the voltage drop might not allow the fridge to run.

But I can't see any danger in trying - worst case it won't work, or you blow a fuse.

Thanks for the reply. Will give it a try this weekend. Looks like the fuse is 15A an the fridge draws max 4.9. Wiring also looks a bit thin but I'll try anyway.

In my experience this socket is not good enough.
The voltage loss is to big for the fridge. It thus works suboptimal.
I had a second battery installed with National luna splitter. A 'thick' cable was led to the boot and suddenly as well fridge as well users of the fridge are far more happy.

Thanks. Thought so but I guess the best way to know for sure is fir me to test.

Also need to hook my trailer up with a connection to the brad harrison connection point at the back of the paj for when I'm towing and the fridge is in the trailer. Anyone know where I can get the wiring and connection points from?

You can Google frontrunner to do the cabling work, or if you want to do it yourself, buy your components from bushpower - you should be able to Google them as well. They are both in Midrand /Kyalami area.

I have recently added a dual battery system due to the fact that the plug in the back only switches on while the key is in the ignition, so I opted to run my cables through a solenoid and fuse to the back of my car and hooked up a 130ah deepcycle battery, added two extra plugs, 4 mm b&s wire which could withstand 15 ah (so 15 ah fused) which is plenty for the new generation fridges, my engel loves it so its running 24/7 with no stress to the main battery and always something cold in the back. I have a Gen 4 but it is well worth the effort, timewise only took a couple of hours and now its good for and adventure into the wild!
