Airflow on Pajero
New to Pajeros, but so far very happy with build quality and looks. Installed EFS for better lift. Performance a little worrying though and feels like engine is starving / struggeling at pull away and low revs. I see that the air intake is tucked away behind the bonnet and probably so to prevent water intake with deep crossings? I am in no way an expert on airflow and engines, but I would think that reducing the air intake would decrease low rev performance. Coupled with the Exhaust Gas Recycling (which I still don't undertand fully after readings the forum's views, i.e. must I block it off or not?), the restricted airflow would probably cause the lack of spring at low revs! A snorkel might do the trick, but is expensive.
Re: Airflow on Pajero
Hi Gert, I'm no expert either, but I've yet to read a post about a snorkel making a huge performance difference on the Pajeros.

Your problem might be elsewhere. Have you inspected the air filter? What is your fuel economy like?
Re: Airflow on Pajero
another question, to add to GTs: What model, engine and year is it? If it's 3.2 DI.D pre 2009 (?) it might stand to reason that the low rev performance is less than enthralling - it would be the old lower powered 120kw. If its new, then you have a valid worry, the new 140kws are marvellous, though not LR3 or LR4 territory.

air flow
Sorry guys, yes it is the 120 kw 2008 model (GLS) and I must probably still get used to the auto box as well. The motor has done 74 000 kms and probably not 100% run in yet? Fuel consumption under normal driving is around 9 km/l and when towing around 7 km/l. I am having it chipped at SAC next week and hopefully with the increased power it will be better. However, reading the forum talks about chipping I am a bit worried as I cannot install an EGT sensor / warning system at this stage.
