Holla!
Hi All

Name is Sampie and I'm a brand new Pajero owner, coaxed by nameless other scoundrels residing on this and other 4x4 forums to take the plunge into good old reliable Mitsubishi waters.

I've had a couple of lemons before, also new, but a Jeep Cherokee and my latest, Ford supercab, so reliability is the most important criteria. Having browsed about I've decided on the Pajero GLX 3.2 and I've also decided to buy new, for this reason and also because I got a fantastic deal: R463 000 all inclusive!!

I'm a business manager/owner in Citrusdal and am also involved with a number of other development projects.

I've been 4x4ing almost from birth (dad was a missionary in Malawi way back and the old series landy's were part of my upbringing. I've done the rough stuff and now only do medium trails (max 4) and also love my overland trips.

I've done Malawi, Zim, Botswana, some of Namibia and would really like to go anywhere next... :D as long as it is via gravel and where the crowds have not arrived!

Be kind, I'm new here and help me find my feet. Appreciated!

Re: Holla!
Welcome a second time (I'm Scooby on the other forum) :)

How did you wangle that price? Second hand GLX's are advertised at higher prices!

Does the GLX come with cruise control yet or is it still AWOL?

Cheers

Re: Holla!
Thanx Tom!

I did a lot of homework and found that Mc Carthy were giving assistance of 40k on the Paj. Unfortunately we don't have a Mitsubishi Mc Carthy in the Western Cape, so I requested a quote from our local dealer. He gave me one with their usual discount, along with a terrible trade on my Ford. I queried the Mc C discount and he agreed to match that plus add his original discount. I then complained about the trade-in and they gave a further assistance on that. That came to R463k all included.

Fortunately I sold my Ford out of hand at 30k more than what he was offering so all-in-all I'm very chuffed!

Oh and I don't finance, I pay cash, which helps. And no, I'm not stinking rich, I just save the money from the moment I buy a new vehicle till I need to replace. It makes a damned good argument for keeping the old one if you have to fork out the cash. Kinda keeps you honest and suppresses the itch no end! :D

Sampie

Welcome here.

Who are your local Mitsu guys? Vanrhynsdorp? Or is there dealers closer to Citrusdal? I can't recall seeing a Mitsu dealer there when I last passed through?

Anyway, congrats and enjoy. I think the Pajero will cure your lemon streak, no problem!

Re: Holla!
Hey CATS! Thanx man, I sure as hell hope it does. I've been reading through the whole of the dash rattle on the Gen 4 saga and think I need to get on a corrugated road asap

I used the dealer in Malmesbury. Incredible service so far. They are even prepared to come and fetch my car (130kms), leave me a car and return it for a service. Now that is walking the extra mile!

Re: Holla!
Thanx Roelf

I told CATS in another thread that I named my car "Tafika", a Malawian word meaning "I'm home", which says it all I guess.
