Diesel pump swap - "coding" required?
Hi all

I'm going to be swapping the diesel pump in my 3.2 DiD to try and get rid of the TCV error, but a quick question for all you bright folk first.

Since the pump is electronic, does it need to be "coded" or does the engine ECU need to be configured for the new pump in any way? I'm assuming this is not going to be a plug and play procedure here?

Thanks

If it is a rebuild and properly calibrated, it should bolt straight on. :D

Install it with the 3 bolts lose. Turn the pump in it's bolt holes. Retarding it will make more white smoke and advancing will give a pinging sound like a bolt in the combustion chamber when revving.

You need to back off a small amount from where it pings.

Other than that you can have the mitsu garage perform the 4 degree timing procedure with the pipe and mut tool, but good luck with that one. My dealer didnt have a clue what i was talking about when i asked them to do it.

there is no adjustment possible on the pump by way of the mounting bolts. just make sure the pump is on TDC and the engine is also on TDC when putting the pump on. it will turn a tooth out when it is fitted properly.
