Do i have damage now?(4M40 overheated)

Okay so what happened is after a put the engine back i filled the radiator only with clean water so that i can see if there is any leaks before i put in antifreeze. I did a couple of small trips with the Pajero and stopped regularly to see if there is any oil or water leaks. So after about 100km done after the engine install there was still no leaks. So today i went to Carletonville +- 22km to get the aircon refilled with gas. When i arrived there i saw that water was running out from underneath the Pajero. I was not too worried at that moment because the water was not boiling and the gauge was still reading normal.
Because i had no tools and the leak was at a difficult place to reach (rear of the block) i topped it up and drove slowly home and kept my eyes on the heat gauge. Halfway the heat gauge started to rise just above half from were it was just below half when at normal temp. So i switched the engine off immediately and stopped. When i opened the bonnet i could hear that the water was boiling inside the engine.
At least it was not steaming out or pushing out water or anything, only that boiling sound.
So my question is how would i know if there were any damage done? My plan is to replace that difficult to find pipe. It is the one that comes from the heater pipes to the rear side of the block if you look past the diesel filter. then i will start her up again and see what she does.
PS. where can i find that rubber heater pipes for the Pajero?
