Hi,

my Paj is smoking on startup and idle. problem seemed to go away when new plugs fitted.
I've recently heard that this could be a solenod that is faulty and hence glow plugs stay on and are burning the plugs.

is there merit in this logic? where would be the best place to buy a solenoid from and is it a DIY job?

Use a voltmeter on the glowplug rail to determine when there is current to the plugs.

Don't go scratching without an accurate diagnosis.
