Using a Tip Tronic Auto Box correctly...
Hi,

As can be seen on the introduction page, I am a pround new owner of a Pajero.

I have so many questions and so little time.........

I will be attending a 4x4 driving course in the VERY near future, but there is something I would like to know before I go there.

#1 - In your opinions, would you rather stay in full automatic when you are doing a trail like say Bass Lake or Barrakha? Or will you switch over to manual drive ?

#2 - When you are decending a steep hill what drive would you select - Manual 1st gear or stay in Automatic?

Your answers will be highly appreciated.
Re: Using a Tip Tronic Auto Box correctly...
Both tiptronic and auto modes have their place off the tar, but definitely lock the box into first gear via the tiptronic mode for steep hill descents to maximise engine braking (but be prepared to contribute to the control of the descent by careful braking, taking care not to lock the wheels). In sand the auto mode often does the best job, but be prepared to flick the box into tiptronic mode in some cases om sand to prevent gear changes at awkward moments.
