Dashboard lights indicating 4x4 engagement

My vehicle is a Pajero 3.5 DOHC, 24 Valve and is a 2000 model. On the dashboard there are four green "Wheels" indicating when 4 x 4 is engaged. It would appear that the contact regulating these lights is defect. When in 2 x 4 the top two green lights keep flashing although the vehcle is in ordinary driving mode. How do I replace this "contact" for the two top lights to stop flashing when not engaged. Hope this makes sense:)Regards Makarios

Although my Pajero is a much earlier model, I suspect that you have much the same problem that I had. The 4x4 indication on the dashboard is supplied via two limit switches located towards the end of the gearbox. If these switches are fitted without an aluminium or copper washer, the contact is intermittent and the 4x4 light will flicker. Remove the switches and fit washers if they do not have them. I would like to know if this solves your problem for interest sake.
