Timing belt dilemma
Hi all

i need to know whether the timing belt needs to be changed every 5 years,or 90k km?

Reason being,my 3.8 is coming out of motor plan in the next few months, and the mileage is 62k km.

so I was wondering if the rubber belt falls into the same category of tyres: to change every five years due to deterioration of the rubber compound.

The question is to change the belt or leave it till 90k km,which will probably take another three years?

Any advices?

thanks

Re: Timing belt dilemma
whichever comes first.

Timing belt is the one item you don't take any chance with. A failed timing belt is a destroyed engine.

Re: Timing belt dilemma
that's what I was afraid of,I need to fork out for it because motorplan won't cover it.

It's worth having the peace of mind, instead of a ticking time bomb.

Thanks
