Hi guys - my first post. Where on earth do I find a glow time control relay for my '97 Pajero 2800? i have been offered a "conversion" at R1800-00 but would rather stick to the Monark relay 090 290 005. The agents are really unhelpful and I get blank stares everywhere. Is there another product available? Please help.

When the electronic control unit packed up on my 25 year old Gen 1 2.5L 4D56 turbo diesel wagon I replaced the timer with a switch on the dashboard. I put the switch on for about ten seconds, start the vehicle and then switch the plugs off a few seconds later. My Pajero now has no electronics at all - an all Africa wagon!
The original glow plugs were stamped '11 volts'. The timer applied 12 volts for about four seconds and the voltage was then dropped to 6 volts via a resistor box. I replaced the original glow plugs with plugs of identical length and which were marked for 12 volt use. The original plugs cost R280 each and the replacement plugs are R50 each from a good motor spares shop.

Thanks Marty, sounds like a creative solution. I actually found the relay today at Autozone of all places so the problem is solved for now.
