Engine miss

Hi all
My 2005 LWB 3.8 Petrol with 148 000 km on has a strange habit:
While driving, it is as if the ignition cuts out for a split second. This obviously causes complete loss of power and when it comes on again, it is as if it slams the transmission when the engine gives power again.
This happens on various rev ranges, various speeds, uphill and down hill, whether accelerating or cruising. The dashboard lights do not come on during this miss as one would expect if the ignition was really cut. It also happens randomly, maybe once in 100 km traveled.
My Paj has a branch, free flow and Steves chip.
