Long towbar + Explorer

Guys

My gen 4 got the looong towbar. Its bothering me a bit when I hitch my explorer.

When I pack my explorer I try not to put to much weight in front of the axles and also full up the water tank for more weight in the back. I am no weightlifter with ma se muscles and can only lift the explorer 1mm for 1 second. Its a heavy caravan.

Now with the long hitch it means the weight on the towbar is greater than with normal towbars closer to the body. However the pajero tows like a dream and is very stable.

The long towbar is fairly low and its very easy to tickle the caravan's nose when going over a speed bump. That's really not acceptable for me. It's an offroad rig.

How do you guys experience your loong towbars with your Gen4's? Do I need to worry?

Can the long towbar not adjust to a shorter distance? I would not like those leverage forces as well.

The Bosal tow bar can handle a vertical load of 150kg when at its longest adjustment point, which is more than enough for your Xplorer. However in Aus you can purchase a bracket that lifts the spare wheel by 25mm. This is good for 2 options. 1 you can now open the tailgate with the van hitched up. 2 you can move the hitch in on the adjustment

Yes, you can move the ball up, but you aint gonna achieve much.

You'll still have the loooong towbar.

Just shorten it. M2CW

Mine stops just short of the end of the spare wheel. I have no real problems hooking up or negotiating bad terrain.
