Hi All,
My name is Jolyon Robinson ( I know it's different so please call me Jol or Jon) and I live in Hout Bay, Cape Town where we have lived since 1988 when we moved down from KZN. I was born in Durban on 23rd October 1948 and am 65 years of age. I am English speaking and speak some Afrikaans. I am an electrical engineer currently working with the Dept of Health on contract. I have been married for 36 yrs and have two sons of 31 & 33 yrs respectively both of whom have left home quite some time ago. This will be the 1st time I have joined a 4x4 club which I think is well overdue. My first 4x4 was a Colt V6 which I purchased around 2002. My respect for this vehicle grew exponentially the first time I took it to Klipbokop. I couldn't believe it's capabilities. I sold the Colt and in 2005 bought my current Pajero V6 GLX and what a fantastic vehicle it has been. We have been to Richtersveld & Kgalagadi a few times, Namibia and more recently Botswana. It has never let me down. I have modified it for camping by removing the rear seats and installing a drawer slider system which I built when I was between jobs and had time on my hands. It works very well and takes 3 full plus 3 half size ammo boxes, 50l water tank and 37 l Waco fridge. I also fitted dual battery system, compressor, OME suspension, Monroe gas shocks, Hella Ralley spots, Hannibal roof racks etc etc. With the performance chip fitted I have managed to get consumption down to 11.6 l / 100km. I have always had a yearning to buy a Pajero 3.2 DID as I think this oil burner is well established with proven technology and great pedigree (I hope I am not proven wrong with time...) I had been scanning Gumtree for months when suddenly a 2007 3.2 DID GLS LWB came up for sale so I flew up to Natal to check it out and, at a moment of weakness, bought it on the spot. It had 190000 kms on the clock and was in good condition. My wife wasn't too impressed as I now have two 4x4's and two motorbikes which left no space in the garage for her car. Reluctantly I have had to make the decision to put my shorty on the market. She (the Pajero) is still in excellent condition and has only done 188400 kms. I am reluctant to sell her but something had to go. I have not had a chance to modify the new 3.2 DiD as it is such a recent acquisition & I still need to sell the V6 to generate some cash. We are planning to do Namibia again in the near future as this is our favourite destination...apart from Richtersveld. In my spare time I ride my bike(s), jog every now and then, paddle kayak (in good conditions) and work on my vehicles. Jolyon Robinson '98 Pajero V6 GLX, '07 Pajero 3.2 DID GLS LWB.
