DiD Idling very high! (Resolved!)

My PJ had to sleep outside last night (to avoid biltong juice dripping on it

). This morning it idled at just over 3000rpm from start-up for the first 5kms or so and then settled to idle at normal rpm.
Any ideas?

idle?
That's nearly redlining!
I can't imagine why it would do that!

It was silently cursing you

. It was pretty nippy last night! I think it is normal.

Did a quickie to Kruger and back last week with lots of driving and no re-occurrence of this. Maybe you're right!

OK, so this happened again over the weekend in Pilansberg.

Only the one morning which was quite chilly!
At start-up it revs at 3000rpm and sits there for a couple of minutes until the motor has heated up. Then the revs fall to normal.
What components are involved in the idling or throttle control which might become sticky during cold weather, which I could check out??
Thanks
Johan

Not good to run a cold engine straight out the blocks at that rpm - needs to be sorted chop chop.
There should be a 4ePikanini DIY video on this - check his website:

Oh, OK, found it:

Thanks Andrew!
OK, so I ckecked the throttle body and cleaned and lubricated as far as I could. Couldn't find any fault in the way it operates.
Also cleaned the grey plug on the pedal as someone suggested.
She has to sleep out in the cold again this weekend at a campsite, so I'll see what happens.

there is a bunch of plugs coming from the pump. Check the wires for any deterioration or breaks.
Did you disconnect the battery at all?

OK, so this has happened again!
Have checked all the stuff mentioned so far - nothing.
Checked the error codes today. I'm getting 16 - Boost Air Temperature Sensor.
Can this have anything to do with high idling from a cold start-up?

I had that same fault and it did not idle high at the time. It is a small sensor to replace, maybe swap with mine for a week or so and check?
