Introducing myself
Posted: Wed Jul 16, 2014 9:11 pm
Hello,
My name is Marius Verster and my wife is Kobie.
Were are retirees; I a ma 60 years old and Kobie is 57.
We live in Randburg and enjoy 4x4 trips, which we mainly do with a group of friends and family from Namibia. The result is that most of our trips are done in Namibia and particularly the Kaokoland. We recently undertook a 5 day trip from Outjo to Marienfluss and the Harmann's valei.
We drive a Pajero LWB, bought new in January 2013. This trip was our first with the Pajero and what a change from my first 4x4 - Japanese Appliance - (Fortuner).
Being a station wagon, we need to organise it differently or equip it differently as it cause a lot of frustration looking for something that is always at the back or bottom. Also, fixing a flat, everything needs to be unpacked to get to the jack and wheel spanner.
I also damaged my rear bumper, going over the Hartmann's mountains. I am a rookie when it comes to tough off-road stuff and learn every time.
Advice how to optimise space when going on a long trip with no trailer or caravan, would be my first quest. Your experience would be much appreciated.
We are loslappies now and would like to join some trips would be an experience.
We look forward to a pleasant stay here in the group.
