Oil build up in water reservoir. 1996 3.5.GLS
Hi. I had my top gaskets replaced some time ago. Shortly afterwards I noticed a gradual build up of oil in the water reservoir. Took it back to the Mech who cleaned out the cooling system and checked the oil cooler where he believe the problem could be. Apparently he could not find any problem although I doubt that the took of the oil filter bracket to check.

There is no typical signs of water in the oil (on the dipstick or the oil cap) though. Thus there is oil in the water as appose to water in the oil. Could this be a head gasket job gone bad or could there be other reasons for the oil in the water reservoir.
Any views or advise would be highly appreciated.

Hallo Gerhard.
Ask your mech. to do that chemical test in your cooling system. Oil in your water can also be cracked cyl. head, but I never heard of an Pajero that have that problem after overheating, but if it overheat seriously, possible.
