My vehicle ("Old Reliable") needs to go for the cambelt service (3rd cambelt @ 240 000km)and I intend taking it to Henk at Pajero Maintenance & Service in Wonderboom.
1. While this is being done, is there anything else that I can have Henk look at specifically and perhaps replace while busy on "Old Reliable (OR)"??
It could be engine, gearbox, suspension, body, electrical....???
2. Anybody with first hand experience of work done by Pajero Maintenance and Service, be it positive or negative, but honest first hand experience only, in fairness to Pajero Maintenance & Service?? Should you wish to contact me off-line, please send a PM.
Thanks in advance for any replies extending the life of my OR!!!!

Maybe replace the water pump as well the same time? Also possibly pulley bearings and bolts on the belt assembly would be my guess. Other thaan that maybe replace all water pipes with new ones as the old ones might have become a bit "pap"?

Elu,
I'm 100% with Cats on this one. Do you know if the items on Cats' list are still original on your Pajero?

CATS & Roelf,
Thank you for the recommendations, apprecite - I will definitely have those done as well.
I do not know whether these are still original on my vehicle, had it since 137 000km and cannot recall replacing any of those listed, except a water pipe or two, will check my service/repair records. But inprinciple, I will replace all the water pipes etc.

At 137k km those parts would have been original

Roelf,
Assuming they were (and still are) the originals, then does it mean that now is a good time to replace??

The fact that your car will be stripped in front and the parts on our list will be right there in day-light is the reason.
Yip. Especially the pulley bearing and bolt. I do not know the petrol engines that well but seem to recall talk about a particular pulley/bolt that may give troubles later on in life on those motors? The design of the bolt was also changed at one stage due to earlier problems. Or is this on older models? Can someone with more knowledge confirm?

Elu,
My suggestion: all belts, water pump, all pulleys and while you are at it, check and replace if need be all the engine/gearbox mountings. I have just replaced the gearbox cross member rubbers at 137 000km - four sets of two each. Two sets were stuffed and two were just OK. Price R282,77 and available at the Misubishi spares in Wonderboom.
