Vibrations in 2000 NM 3.5 Pajero - Fixed
Had a vibration at about 95 - 100 kph that was a bit rhythmic and not good. There was also another harshness at any old speed but particularly noticeable at slower speeds. Off to an auto electrician this month and both were solved. (Mostly.)

The harshness was found to be an air leak in the 4WD line at the front diff end(from the actuator). The tech spotted plyer marks and then found the pin hole leak. 10mm removed, refitted and the low speed harshness disappeared. Paj was still going in and out of 4WD OK but the leak was causing something to not release properly and "rub" for want of a better word.

The vibration was improved by removing the balancer from the back of the transfer case and all is very good. I was admonished for using 91 octane so have stepped up to 95 and 98. All fault codes were fine so an engine flush and some MBL8 and new oil and filters and it feels like a new vehicle. The MBL8 removed a noisy "tappet" sound at start up. Only half a bottle required.

The reason for all the above is to suggest members include the above fixes in their own search for solutions plus I was told Pajeros have an inherent vibration from the engine and Mitsubishi concede there is no known fix. So, anyone else aware of this fact?

Paj done 92,000 kms so will look at the front balance weight thingy when I get the cam belt replaced. Apparently they like to join into the vibration nuisance discussion too.

Cheers, Alan.
