To service myself or not?
Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone could advise on how difficult it would be to do minor services myself on my Gen3 3,2 DID SWB. My goal is to change oil every 5,000km myself and then take it in for a pro-service every 10,000km.

Are there any special tools required or will my Gedore mechanics toolkit cover it?

Also where can I find a service / workshop manual for the little beast, with that I could do this with confidence...

Easy as pie.
Longest job is to undo the four bolts of the little bash plate.
Toughest lesson is when you realise how much oil is in the sump as your oilpan starts overflowing.

Re: To service myself or not?
As stated by others really easy to do and get a plastic 10-litre Summpy for the oil as I still have an oil stain on the carport floor from my first self service  .

Just make sure you put the oil seal on the filter correctly as it is easy to get wrong and not easy to see as it is dark under there  .

Just follow the advise on this forum.

I find using sand-paper helps a lot with the grip on the oil filter :)

Oil changes are easy - but beware. some have stripped their sump plug :)

Re: To service myself or not?
Easy as pie, I just bought the nice tool showed by RoelfieRoux to undo the oil filter.

BUT, I've found an Indy that I trust and the labour is R580. For me the problems to get rid of about 9l of oil make me pay the R580 and get it over and done with in no time!

R580?! That's a bargain! Obviously you supply him with the service kit and oils etc... I need to find a trusted Indy like that.
Re: To service myself or not?
I didn't quote the parts as one will have to buy it if DIY service as well. But the parts are obtained from the Mitsu dealer (filter only) and other suppliers. Indy do the sourcing. He owns a Pajero himself so he knows what ltc is required.
