Hi all.
I'm driving a 1997 3.0 SWB Pajero. 308 000 km (Bought it 2nd hand, therefore unknown if engine still original).
Engine 6G72 12V. Specs and registration paper say 109 kw. SAC say 90.2 kw and 181 Nm at wheels after chipping and with 19% ambient correction in Bloemfontein.
PROBLEM: My engine is currently using 2 liter oil per 1 tank of fuel.
Compression OK as per SAC, basically no smoking yet. Three questions please:
Option 1: Rectify oil consumption only. Any recommendations?
Option 2: Recondition engine. I will do a lot of the work myself apart from the reconditioning of the tops. Estimation of cost please?
Option 3: Replace engine with a 6G74 GDI.... I'm keen on doing this if I can find a good replacement. The rest of the car is actually in relatively good condition and I would love a bit more power. Any opinions please?
