Chip swop from Gen 3 to Gen 4

Hi,

I have replaced my Gen 3 (3.2 Gls) with a gen 4 (3.2 Gls). I had a Unichip in the previous model which made an amazing change to the vehicle. I contacted an installer and they said the one I have (green) was vehicle specific and cannot be put in another model.
Does anyone know if this is true or are they just trying to sell me a new one?

All I know is that the Gen4 has common rail injection, which means completely different computing actions from the ECU (when compared to the Gen3). I'll be totally surprised if it's happy with a Gen3 chip.

you cannot transfer a chip from a gen3 to a gen4.

my humble opinion : do NOT chip your gen4. i have only heard horror stories.
