Hi Guys
I am hoping someone here will be able to help me.
I have a 2007 Gen4 Common Rail. I believe the diesel pump is starting to give up. Some of the symptoms:
1) Engine just looses power, and even with accelerating it just 'splutters' and dies.
2) After a few minutes, she start again but the engine management light comes on and stays on for a day or so and there doesnt seem to be an issue. Then the light goes off, and the cycle starts again.
It is getting progressively worse where now while driving, she starts to loose power, then picks up again .... and then carries on like that for a while and then suddenly gets a 'burst' of power and is then fine for a while. I was told this was the diesel pump. Does any one have any ideas? If so, where can i get a pump from other than the 'stealers', or is this ONLY a dealer part?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as she is becoming very unpleasant to drive and i use her daily to work and back.
Mike
Are you sure it is not the fuel flow regulator? Not sure of the exact name now but it seems to be a regular documented problem in Australia.
I will search a bit more and post the correct name when I get a chance.

Hi Everyone
Thank you for all the responses ...
One thing i should have mentioned in my first post, was that i did also have this issue before my previous service, but i was a few thousand kms over the service interval. They couldnt find anything wrong and suggested it could be the diesel pump and told me to monitor it. Once the service was done .... it was beautiful and NO MORE issues. I am now again about 1000km over the service interval (couldnt get an earlier booking) and the symptoms are starting again .... Not sure if its related and this is her way of telling me to get her serviced
CATS - Do you know if the Suction Control Valve (SVC) is available from anyone other than the dealers? Who would be the best contact to keep these types of parts?

Not sure about SA. Maybe try a Bosch Diesel parts center. I know you can buy 'High Flow' versions in Aus from somewhere other than dealer but not sure about SA.
By the way. This sounds more like filthy diesel filter to me.

Sound advice, if you want to enter in a BBBEE business venture? Think twice! Make sure your i's are dotted and t's are crossed

Spoke to my service guy in Boksburg and he is convinced its the chip i had put on a few years back
Also mentioned injectors or pump .... All sound like large ticket items to me ...

My Chip started acting up after 4 years of faultless operation. Maybe start there. On the Gen 3 (DASTEK) it can simply be unplugged. Not sure about the GEN 4 though.MikeRo wrote:Spoke to my service guy in Boksburg and he is convinced its the chip i had put on a few years backAlso mentioned injectors or pump .... i had the same problem (mine went into limp mode) after replacing diesel filters - make sure the diesl filter is a Mitsubishi filter.
I did this & seemed to rectify the issue - but a day later - the issue ws back.
Took it to Mitsubishi & replaced the Suction Control Valve - PROBLEM SOLVED.
