I'm new to the forum. Just got a 2001 DiD SWB with 134000km from Middelburg and I am admiring the mechanical robustness already. As usual I am going through the vehicle replacing/fixing anything that looks suspicious or doesn't sound right. Surprising how few vehicles I came across thus far that had a recent gear oil replacement - judging by the state of what drains out! And it has a full service history..
On valve clearance - I found a spec of .1 inlet and .15 exhaust but it did not state hot or cold and if its measured between cam and roller or rocker tip and valve stem. I adjusted it between cam and roller to be safe (bcs it was really noisy) but it still a bit too loud for my liking. Taking that measurement it was out by +50% on average. Any advice from anyone on the matter?
