CO2 sensor headache

Hi Everyone
I just introduced myself on this forum.
Looks like a great bunch of Pajero guys.
I find myself looking for some expert advice regarding my 1999 3500 V6 Shorty.
The engine management light comes on intermittendly. Mitsu says it's the 2nd CO2 sensor(after the CAT)...Yes it has a CAT.
I'm not normally somebody who harms the enviroment but.... is there any way of bypassing these sensors? I would really like to take out the CAT and fit a more free flowing exhaust to free up the Beast.
Thanks
Regards
Jean
