New Pajero Owner
Just got a 2006 Pajero Exceed V93W, engine 6G72 in January 2016.

Is this a 3rd or 4th generation Pajero. How can I distinguish?

The vehicle currently speaks Japanese. It seems very polite and cordial upon starting. It very quickly becomes concerned that we are driving in lakes, rivers, and other impossible places according to it's GPS which appears to think we're in Japan.

Is there a way to update the Mitsubishi Multi Communication System? If it could speak English, that would be great. If it had maps for Africa, that would be excellent.

So far, we've only travelled to Mozambique and Kruger park (saw cheetahs!). On some of the dirt roads the front dash shakes a lot. Speeding up a little appears to decrease the vibration.

If it's the most beautiful vehicle you've ever seen and the dash is bouncy, it's a gen4. If it looks like the guys who make Tonka toys designed it and the spare sits sensibly to the side, it's a 3.

Thanks, Nic

It's gorgeous, the dash is very bouncy, and the spare is perfectly centred on the rear door panel (meaning the door handle access is awkward with your right hand) — sounds like it's a gen4.
