Pajero Gen4 Engine Coolant Temp Low

Hello all,
I'm trying to diagnose low engine coolant temperature on my 2007 Gen4 DiD.
I detected the problem with an ODBD2 scanner. The coolant temperature hovers around 55 degrees Celsius. I understand the correct temperature should be around 85 degrees.
I have already changed the thermostat - it made no difference.
So my questions are: this degree of temperature variation - is it very dangerous for the car?
Eventually I'll have to take it to a dealer probably but I want to do some homework first and hopefully save a bit of money by doing so. Any other items I can check or have checked? For example any other sensors that come into play? Maybe wrong coolant used? Maybe too much anti-freeze? Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks

What does you system show as the gearbox temp? Would be interesting to compare to the engine. Ifind the gearbox ussualy about 29deg C cooler that the engine temp on mine.

CATS, I haven't been able yet to read gearbox temp. Might be some setting in the app I'm missing. Or I need to find another app. Most guys use Torque which is only available on Android. I'm on IOS. Will post that here and on your OBD2 thread once I'm able to read.
Thanks

Not in short term / while diagnosing it. I would not ignore it / would definitly get it sorted. Are your coolant pipes all std/normal. This is typical of coolant bypassing the thermostat somehow. On some engines the thermostat redirects the coolant to the heater and can be seen by the unusual thermostat. The Gen3 DID has a normal thermostat (I presume Gen4 is the same ??? anyone?). Did you fit a genuine thermostat? Where does the gauge indicate?
Any other items I can check or have checked? For example any other sensors that come into play? I would stick a manual heat gauge in the motor to get a reading to start with.
With reference to sensors on the engine, Pajero sensors, very, very rarely give problems.
Maybe wrong coolant used? Well you should be using agents stuff.
Maybe too much anti-freeze? Agents A/F is pre mixed so you cannot use too much. As a matter of interest using a neat A/F mix (one that should be mixed) will encourage it to run hotter.
Any ideas will be appreciated. I think start by getting a true reading of the engine temp. I used /drilled the welsch plug in the housing next to the std heat gauge at top front r/h side where coolant pipe connects. You can then just replace the welsch plug to get it back to std.
