Hi Everyone,
What could the cause be for this? (2005 3.2 DiD)

Most common cause would be compression bypassing the rings due to -
a)wear, b)overheated and collapsed rings, c) broken ring /s, d) stuck rings (stuck in piston grooves).
or then badly scored cylinder /s, cracked cylinder (block),
or hole in piston, cracked piston, damaged piston /s (normally due to faulty injector /s),
or blown head gasket.
or copper seal /s on injector /s leaking.
Best is get someone good / sharp to diagnose and do a compression test on the engine.

I see you asked advice on another forum as well. Stuck rings as I mentioned will cause such a problem but glazed cylinder liners will definitely not and will only and but only cause oil consumption. Been there / projects / seen it many times over.
Be cautious driving it as is. If it is a broken piston for eg it can end up going through the side of the block and then it will cost you big time. It might be simple it might not. As said get someone to check it out.

Thanks for the info.
It sounds as if it is not running on all cylinders, almost like a petrol engine with dead sparkplug.

A faulty injector can cut a small hole straight through a piston without damaging the rest (it runs but without compression on that cylinder). At this point that is what it most likely sounds like.
Is there diesel in the engine oil? Can I help you by looking / listening to it ? where is it?

I would appreciate if someone with more knowledge than me could help, however it is in Mpumalanga aprox 200km away from Pta.

Well if you have the wheels I can find the time

(Just not Thursday going for a small op!).
