2003 Pajero 3200 DID 3 Door - Motor re-build advice
Hi All

I recently bought a 2003 Pajero 3200 DID 3/Door. The previous owner had the entire motor re-done at an approximate cost of R96 000-00 ( I HAVE THE INVOICE'S ). The motor has done a total of 12341 km's and has now packed up. The service centre who did the motor over are not interested in helping me......PLEASE, ANY ADVICE AS TO WHERE TO FIND A NEW MOTOR WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

Regards,

Try "Japan auto trading". They might have or at least know.

I find a lot of these "engine guys" somewhat lacking in the diplomacy dept. There are a lot of them. Stranger recommended on another thread to try http://www.enginesandmore.co.za
The main man is Paul McQuire.

I had a look at their website and it looks very good. I also like the angle that Paul registers the engine on Natis for you which is a big plus point.

If you want a hand at selecting a good engine give me a shout.

Hi Peterpot

I have found a 2013 Mitsubishi 4m41 3,2 diesel motor in JHB. Would you know if it would fit in my 2003 Pajero 3,2 DID 3-door. Also, would the electronics all match up/be a problem?
Re: 2003 Pajero 3200 DID 3 Door - Motor re-build advice
Man oh man would that not be lovely 140kw - wow ...... but I would say the biggest concern would probably be the ECU which is different between the two. Now I do not know how capable you are. My son is a wizard at these type of projects and I think even he would be cautious. The turbo is different (VGT) the fuel pump is different (and I would say plenty more that does not come to mind). You could get the ECU from the engine supplier but now we are going into serious mods here. Just too many unknowns i would say. Because these vehicles are generally so reliable not much like this has ever needed to be done in the past.

Also once you take the motor, unless there is something wrong with it, you are committed.

I would say rather follow the safe bet and find the right motor for your vehicle. Everything will match / connect up. At least when you come to sell it, it will not be seen as "modified" and effect resale value.
